Build the festival with us

Cinemas and film festivals in South Africa cluster in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. Mirunzini brings South African film to audiences in Vhembe, and connects Limpopo filmmakers with the wider industry.

Talk to us about partnering

Two women, one in black and one in blue, pass a small drum between them.

Who you'll reach

Learners and students from local schools and colleges, young people who rarely get near the film industry, filmmakers and creatives from across Limpopo, and families from Thohoyandou and the villages around it. We reach them in Tshivenda, Xitsonga and English, through community radio, WhatsApp, social media and posters at schools, taxi ranks and shopping centres.

What happens at the festival

Screenings of short films, documentaries and features, each followed by a Q&A or panel with the filmmakers. Around the screenings: practical sessions on storytelling, acting for film and cinematography, an industry lounge where filmmakers meet producers and distributors, and a market for local vendors and crafters.

Ways to partner

Brand partnership

Put your name on a screening block, an award or the festival itself, in front of an audience that national campaigns rarely reach.

Film and programme support

Help us bring films, filmmakers and panel guests to Thohoyandou.

Masterclasses and industry

Run or sponsor a practical session, or bring decision-makers to the industry lounge.

Media and marketing

Radio, print, online and outdoor. Including Phalaphala FM and the community stations in Vhembe.

In-kind support

Equipment, transport, accommodation, catering, printing and venues.

Schools and community organisations

Bring learners to screenings, host a booth on careers in film, or help us reach a village we haven't reached yet.

Tell us what you have in mind and we'll put together a proposal that fits your budget and your goals.

Partnership conversations are open now.
