Getting to Thohoyandou
Both festivals happen at the Thohoyandou Arts & Culture Centre in Vhembe, Limpopo. Entry is free, and tickets are open now for the Film Festival and the Theatre Fest. The programme will be posted here closer to December.
The venue
Thohoyandou Arts & Culture Centre, next to Thavhani Mall, Thohoyandou, Limpopo, 0950.
The auditorium has raked seating, so everyone can see the stage and the screen. It is in the middle of town, easy to reach by taxi or on foot, and has secure parking for day and evening sessions.

Getting there
- By car
From Polokwane, take the N1 north to Makhado (Louis Trichardt), then the R524 east to Thohoyandou. Allow about two and a half hours. From Johannesburg it is the same route, about six hours.
- By bus or taxi
Long-distance coaches and minibus taxis run to Thohoyandou from Johannesburg, Pretoria and Polokwane.
- By plane
Polokwane International is the closest airport with scheduled flights. From there it is about two and a half hours by road.
Travel times are rough guides. Check your route before you leave, especially after rain.
Where to stay
Thohoyandou has hotels, guest houses and lodges within a short drive of the venue. December is holiday season, so book early.
